To empower underserved communities with knowledge and resources for early detection of critical health conditions, using the platform of sports and superstar
athletes to drive awareness and action.
Early-D is a South Carolina based 501(c)(3) (EIN: 99-1871710) that uses the platform of sports and superstar athletes to empower underserved U.S. communities with knowledge and resources for early detection of critical health conditions.
Vision: A healthier nation where early detection becomes a cultural norm that improves outcomes and quality of life. “When it comes to your health, the BEST DEFENSE is an EARLY DEFENSE.”
Early detection improves survival, reduces costs, and enhances quality of life for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and dementia. Examples in the literature include breast cancer five year survival at 99 percent when localized, heart mortality reductions up to 20 percent with screenings, prevention of type 2 diabetes in 58 percent of at-risk cases, and dementia progression delayed through risk factor management.
Early-D will partner with major sports leagues, media outlets, and consumer brands to deliver a national awareness and action program, then connect audiences to local screening resources. Components include media (TV and radio 30 and 60 second spots, digital and social content, print and billboards, in venue promotions), community activation (health fairs with free screenings, athlete led school and community workshops, charity games), and partnerships (hospitals, clinics, health departments, local leagues, universities).
Primary audience: U.S. adults with emphasis on underserved and high-risk groups. Secondary audience: families, caregivers, and community leaders. Core messages: “Early Detection | Better Outcome,” the best defense is an early defense, empowerment through proactive checks, destigmatizing chronic conditions, and unity through sports.
1) Raise public awareness of early detection benefits. 2) Increase screening rates for targeted conditions by 25% within seven years. 3) Engage communities through local events in the most at risk areas. 4) Secure sustainable funding with aligned partners. 5) Prioritize minority outreach where disparities are largest.
Track reach (media impressions, event attendees, social engagements) and screening rates reported by partners. Make awareness shifts via targeted programs based on annual surveys.
